Die preisgekrönte Tanzkünstlerin Jo Parkes (UK) lädt die Kevelaerer Gemeinschaft – alle Altersgruppen, Hintergründe und Fähigkeiten – ein, zusammenzukommen und die Kraft der Aufmerksamkeit in einer Welt voller Lärm und Ablenkung zu erkunden. Wem oder was wollen Sie Ihre Aufmerksamkeit schenken? Was passiert, wenn eine Gruppe von Menschen ihre Aufmerksamkeit absichtlich – und gemeinsam – lenkt?
Es ist keine vorherige Tanzerfahrung erforderlich. Wir werden uns allein, zu zweit und in Gruppen bewegen – Jo wird die Gruppe anleiten und Raum für die Entdeckung des eigenen Tanzes lassen – allein und gemeinsam.

Jo Parkes ist freischaffende Tanzkünstlerin (D/UK). Seit über zwei Jahrzehnten arbeitet sie international mit co-kreativem, partizipativem Tanz und schafft Installationen, Events, Performances und Videos. Sie ist die Gründerin und künstlerische Leiterin von Mobile Dance e.V. Mobile Dance bietet Kunstprojekte an der Schnittstelle von künstlerischen und gesellschaftspolitischen Anliegen. Mobile Dance hat Projekte ins Leben gerufen, bei denen Hunderte von Künstlern in Deutschland und Großbritannien mit partizipatorischem Tanz gearbeitet haben. 1995 erhielt Jo ein Fulbright-Stipendium, um ihren Master- Abschluss in Choreografie an der University of California (UCLA) zu machen. Sie erwarb einen Abschluss (First Class) in englischer Literatur und modernen Sprachen an der University of Oxford. Im Jahr 2019 wurde sie mit dem Ehrenpreis des Deutschen Tanzpreises ausgezeichnet. Ihre jüngste Arbeit, The Walking Projekt, wurde 2021 mit dem Sonder-IKARUS-Preis (DE) ausgezeichnet. Von 2019 – 2021 war Jo im Vorstand der Aktion Tanz: Tanz in Bildung und Gesellschaft e.V. und war 2019 – 2022 Gastprofessorin am HZT, Berlin (UdK/Ernst Busch). www.joparkes.com

Award winning dance maker Jo Parkes invites the Kevealer community – of all ages, backgrounds and abilities – to come together to explore the power of focusing attention in a world full of noise and distraction. To whom or what do you want to pay attention? What happens when a group of people direct their attention with intention – and together?
No prior dance experience is needed. We will move alone, in pairs and groups – Jo will guide the group and hold space for you to discover your dance – alone and together.
Saturday, 1st and Sunday, 2nd November
Time: Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Contribution towards costs: Whatever you can afford between €120 and €200. Social tariff available on request.

Jo Parkes is a freelance dance artist (Germany/UK). For over two decades, she has been working internationally with co-creative, participatory dance and creating installations, events, performances and videos. She is the founder and artistic director of Mobile Dance e.V. Mobile Dance offers art projects at the intersection of artistic and socio-political concerns. Mobile Dance has launched projects in which hundreds of artists in Germany and the UK have worked with participatory dance. In 1995, Jo received a Fulbright scholarship to complete her master’s degree in choreography at the University of California (UCLA). She graduated with a first-class degree in English literature and modern languages from the University of Oxford. In 2019, she was awarded the German Dance Prize’s Honorary Award.
